I get asked all the time about how I started my yoga journey. I started practicing as a teenager in Iowa, but I didn’t start living my practice until I had a breakdown. Here’s how Power Yoga changed my life:
I was working in the fast-paced world of political campaigns, living my life in my head, which caused me to become disconnected from my body. After a series of breakdowns and a trip to the emergency room, I began to listen to the calls from my body for more attention, self-love, and self-care. This is when I stepped onto my yoga mat and used the deeply physical practice of power yoga to reclaim the power within me.
I got into action and I committed to my daily practice, and I saw immediate results with my body, mind and spirit. My time on the mat became my sanctuary for self-care. What I didn’t realize at the time is that my practice would become a vehicle for me to step into my power in all areas of my life. Power Yoga is so physical that it demands your full presence and puts you deeply in your body. And when you are in your body in the present moment, you can tap into your deep reservoirs of personal power.
I hope this inspires you to join me in deepening your practice. I have two upcoming programs for you:
